Wyvern College cave, 1023

Interpretation included: Yes
My eyes were open in the dark, and my soul felt young, like the cobwebs of time had been brushed away, or were never there at all. Though my eyes were open, I could not see, so I opened them again, and my senses flooded with meaning, like being born. The hall lit up around me, source unseen, and I felt the currents of air, how sounds bounced off stone, and I could pick out particles of light making their way to me from further away.

I walked as one familiar with the place. My hands brushed over reliefs, telling stories of my people. Down the hall, I heard the movement and chatter of others, my kin.

The hall opened to a larger room, but there was no-one there, only their memories, moving like unseen ghosts. There, where hands would lay. There, where minds would create. There, where food would be brought for all. I could sense the weight of the world above me, thick dirt and stone separating my world from what lies above. A safe nest, a comfort.

The weight of time settled a little deeper. I wandered the halls, intermittently flooded, wearing away the carvings. The comforting weight of the earth turned oppressive in places, and once-free halls between rooms became blocked by encroaching stone and dirt.

The walls turned from feats of architecture to cave passages under my gaze. And yet, something remained, a thrum of energy. My people, remaining in the fingerprints they had left. The scents they smelled dirt, different kinds of rock, mushrooms, moss they lingered just the same. The same comforting darkness, out of which understanding may be wrought. The same comforting weight of the world, keeping this place safe.

A thrum of energy. Even in my dream, even when inhabiting a memory or vision of someone else, there are some essential things about me. I followed the thrum of energy, even though this being would likely either dismiss it or already know of it.

A thrum of energy, still present, after all this time. A true glow, a proper light under the earth. In my time, while I have seen much, nothing quite this. It looked and felt magical, but it was not quite magic? Energy surrounded me, and it surrounded something else too. The wall moved, unnoticed until now, taking the vague shape of humanoids, the energy of the blue, or was it white, crystals surrounding them, sparking within them.

I finally, after a long time, looked above ground. The being that I was in the dream flinched at this world. I recognized it, familiar sights of the Realms, the blue sky, the green grass. I watched as the world moved around me, as rivers flood, and hills form and erode. I watched as part of a distant glacier retreated beyond mountains that calve off boulders. As the earth moves, beneath me-in-this-dream, the whole time, my home sits, safe, protected, thrumming with energy of lives past, and of magic that is not quite magic.

Interpretation:

This was pretty clearly about the cave that the Wyvern College asked us to explore during Story Tellers XII. While the cave looked natural at first, inexplicably guarded by some type of clockwork stone golems, we came to find many devices which must have been created by the society from this dream. The white crystals with blue chips that powered the mechanisms, and particularly the golems, seem to have been more or less the sources of the blue energy I saw in the dream. Thankfully, we were able to progress through the cave without damaging many of the devices, besides the golems themselves. Mostly, we solved their puzzles or locks and moved on.

There was a giant spider-golem at the end, and many large, hungry spiders throughout the cave. They did not seem like they would have been capable of creating the devices we saw, but, perhaps their ancestors were?
