Purpose of the Nemesis Marks

The glass shows a gathering of heroes in the Realms, in peaceful array.

The concave surface appears to crack, then clear, and it is evident that many among the crowd have the mark of the Demon Prince secretly upon their hands.

(The Glass has been activated and has broken a Skew, its second such use for the day now spent)

The marks are the conduit for the Demon Prince's exertion of will. Domination of the leaders should bring to heel the followers as well.

The view shifts to a different place and time...

A Wraith with a dagger stands by, occasionally making gestures, facing a second Wraith with a mace, who in turn is leaned over a dead demon, as if talking to it.

They are in a study of sorts, no mortal learning space, littered with parchment, tiles, etched with symbols, runes perhaps. The one with the dagger is holding a piece of parchment with the stylized "N" that has appeared on the hands of the unknowing.

Bestowment of the marks will be learned, appropriated, twisted. The servants plot against the master. For a future, a final conflict, in which their worthy chosen may take up the very weapons of the foe and strike them all down, master and servants alike, severing the bondage and ending the threat to freedom.

They know this is no future assured, but for the moment, a plan. A hope. A risk.
