A Dream of Rain

Date: 12/08/2022 Where dream occured: Within the Realms Interpretation included: None yet A heavy rain hit the body of water nearby. The water is up nearly five inches since the storm started. Around the area men and women work diligently to fortify lower areas against the raising water levels. Suddenly there is a scream of horror from the market and as you look to that direction you see men, women and children fleeing. For some reason you run towards the scene. As you approach you see a horrific scene as a woman and her children lay slaughtered on the cobblestone streets. A massive hulking demon of water holds another child within its form. You slowly watch as life drains from the boys eyes and the beast drops what remains of his rendered souless and lifeless body. The beast looks at you and within a moment your vision fades to pure darkness. "Eshar Ek'tote." You next see what you assume is the same monster on the shore with a crowd of townsfolk and some leaders. A bargain is being struck. "A child as often as demanded and loyalty to the throne." Time passes and you see the leadership organize a lottery. Every man and woman with a child under the age of ten is forced to enter. The demon returns and a name is called. "Audra, daughter of Brega and Kal," a voice exclaims. A wave of emotion spreads across the crowd. A man and woman who you assume are Brega and Kal nearly collapse. Kal holds his wife upright and slowly walks back toward their home. Brega distraught simply lets her husband guide her. As they reach their home there is a lovely young girl with long brown hair swinging on a rope in the back yard. "Honey," Kal yells, "time to come in." It is all the man can do to keep it together. "What do you want for dinner? Anything you want, we will have it!" "I want lollipops and chicken!" the young girl exclaims. "Very well, my dear." He says turning away and wiping tears from his eyes. "Very well. And after dinner you and I will go for a walk. Momma isn't feeling too good." The father and daughter enjoy their dinner of chicken and lollipops while Brega lays in bed. After dinner Kal cleans up, puts away dishes and then puts Audra in her best dress and then head out for a walk. An hour or so later Kal returns alone. He climbs into bed with his wife. "May the gods forgive us for our actions." Kal lays there for hours before his body finally gives in to sleep. |
