Vision of the Lance WraithVision cast by Amawar at QoH 2026You reach out eagerly with your strong, green-tinged hands, fingers tipped with dark, sharp nails, to grasp the leather-wrapped handle of a thick broadsword. A prize. A war prize, it would be, if this were war. But war calls for opposition, for two clans to clash in battle. No such effort needed here. You swipe the air with practice swings before lobbing the head off the first prisoner with one mighty stroke. "Half now, half when the job's done," growls your latest client as they drop eight coins into your beefy green hand. You smile a tusky smile. The idiot doesn't even know that you would do it just for the pleasure. You hurl a heavy spear as your mount runs by the cowering prey. Their words are taken by wind, by your speed, by their death. They might have been calls for mercy, hard to tell. Your hairy mount gnashes its sharp teeth, slavering at the chance to dine on one of your kills. You direct it towards the next target, drawing another lance of death. You've traveled a ways from home, seeking the kind of work you were born to do. So many more humans here. They go down so easily. You pass by what must be militia practice - pathetic neophytes with their peacebound wooden facsimiles. You grin, and ready the pike you haven't bothered wiping clean, and swiftly approach the young would-be warriors with no warning. They need practice. Back home at last. The welcoming archway of bones adorning your dwelling. The open fires, the simmering stews, the mounts in their pens snarling over carcasses, the timbre of drums, the shouts, the greetings, the toasts and boasts of deeds both mighty and bold. You heave the sack from your back and the bones clatter out into a satisfying arrangement on the ground. |
