Is this Aurora�s will?

Hopeless Quest is a subject that has been bothering me for some time. Why would Aurora have us work with Calladin? Is this truly her will? What happens if we fail? What happens if we succeed? These many questions have been whirling around my head for some time. I was not there when Laika was given this quest initially. So I decided it was time to trust but verify.
Date: 8/27/1022 I began a seance to Aurora, calling to her by her aspects, and asking for herself or a representative of her choosing to speak with us about Hopeless Quest. I offered some soul salt for her time. The timer ticked. Nothing seemed to happen. The Staff of Satrael which we were using to conduct the seance lifted itself off the ground and placed itself in Fern�s hands. I was asked if I trusted everyone in the circle. I affirmed this. Nothing seemed to happen. Magus Swift suggested I begin the prayer again, and reaffirm my trust in those around me. I did once more, saying how those in this circle are not just my allies but my friends and family, and that I trust them with my life and more. We eventually realized that whoever was holding the Staff was able to ask a question, and that the staff would make its way around the circle so long as the timer ran. The first question was whether the Hopeless Quest given to Laika was condoned by her. Her response was that there is no Hopeless Quest. This threw us for a loop, causing us to rethink everything. We eventually realized that it was a semantic issue after asking if there is no Hopeless Quest, where did the quest originate from. Aurora confirmed it was she who gave the quest, but she cannot acknowledge anything as Hopeless. But we can. So to her, there is no Hopeless Quest. Back on track. We asked whether the quest for Laika to become her Champion was something she condoned. The answer was yes. This is a good affirmation. Next it was asked whether the quest he has been preparing for is within her plans. She responded no. A follow-up question of how we can shine light on the proper way for Laika to become her Champion revealed that it was Laika who initiated this quest, that was how it was begun. It is for the faithful to shine our light to the rest of the mortals. Aurora can guide us, but she cannot do it for us. We asked whether Laika needs to succeed in the Quest to become Aurora�s Champion, or just attempt it. We were told that if he fails, there will be no Sir Laika. Following this, we asked whether a compromise of morals was needed to complete the quest, as this is likely one of the largest failing points for an Auroran like myself or Laika. We were told no. This is also really good. The question whether what we do at the prince's behest will actually be for the betterment of the realms was met with a yes. Some more really good news. We asked whether the Prince was redeemable. Aurora, well in character for her, said yes. I ended the questioning, thanking Aurora for her time and for her wisdom. As the hourglass ran dry, it flipped itself over again and we got some parting words of guidance. We were warned against saying Calladin�s name, as we had earlier in conversation, for it draws his attention and lets him gain insight on what we are discussing. We were also told that the candle which was gifted to Laika cannot be resisted by Calladin. It can only be resisted by one entity who she refused to say aloud. But gods, the Prince, and others cannot lie in its lit presence. Aurora offers us caution. She knows we have many questions and fears and that we may not succeed, but this was the path that was asked of her, and so she has put us upon it. She did reiterate that it is not too late to turn back. The seance ended. |
