Hunched Over

Now I'm hunched over parchment paper
I guess you'd call that painting in a cave
And there's a word I can't remember
and a feeling I cannot escape
And now my pipe is overflowing with smoke
Still staring at a clean ivory page
And morning's at my window
and she is sending me to bed again

Well I dreamed of a dark horizon,
A desert where the dead laid down
I dreamed that a child prostituted
went and touched an old man in a crowd
I dreamed that the tall ships were sinking
there were people screaming all around,
And I woke up to nine bells ringing
it was a dirge song, it was playing loud

So I will find my fears and face them
Or I will cower here like my dog
I will kick and scream
Or I'll kneel and plead
I will fight like hell to hide that I'm giving up
