Symbols: A smiley face on a white rock
Avatars: Unknown
Plot marshals: Daniel Hudon
Area of Influence: Castle Requiem
The figure is strange, its skin pure white and unclothed. It has no defined features however, as a person might look covered head-to-toe in a tight, thin cloth. It has no mouth, but the incessant cackling seems to emanate from it. The chin appears to move faintly, but is mostly locked in an open position, the skin where its mouth should be stretched. There's no sign of any waste, any food residue, any filth of any kind... but the figure itself smells strongly of blood, as a wolf might smell with its snout deep in a fresh kill.

A seemingly minor god who regardless held a number of followers in the last days of the world consumed by Entropy. With their doom approaching, they sought to live their final days in joy, but were executed at Castle Requiem by the remnants of Ranterra in an attempt to sacrifice the Laughing Man to Ran. His last living worshipper was a guardsman of Ranterra known as Gerrit, who was killed upon interfering with the slaughter. Keeping the god locked up beneath Castle Requiem, the Ranterran high priestess Thernaal used the Dagger of Sacrifice to kill the Laughing Man and send his power to Ran to empower the last king Alran III, believed to be Ran's avatar. However, the prior king Do'gran still lived and received the power instead, leading to him attacking the castle.

Despite his death, the memory of the Laughing Man has been one of the most active gods in Requiem, sending messages to the living and providing a sacred relic which aids in the wielding of the Dagger of Sacrifice. Whether the god himself was 'good' or 'bad' is unknown, but he now seems to be a helpful ally.
