There is much speculation around the Shimmering Avatar, but little is known of their true nature. Here is what we do know.

The Shimmering Avatar is an old Spirit, going back to the founding of Sanctuary itself. They worked with the Guardians to help form our home. They have a special connection with Nat, our Guardian of Hope. There is also believed to be some connection with the Avatar and the Tree of Life which sits in the center of our village. It is a Rowan tree during most of the year, but it turns into a Fir tree during the month of December, which is Hope�s month.

The Hope Festival is also dedicated to the Shimmering Avatar. During it, people decorate the Tree of Life. The Hope is that by decorating it at the Festival of Hope, it will be ready in time for Yule for the Avatar�s return.

There is a poem dedicated to the eventual return of the Shimmering Avatar for Yule.

�When the tree is full displayed
And the season is ripe.
When the kids are all well behaved,
And everything is right.
The Avatar will come home for Yule
And the people will celebrate the return of our jewel�
